Intake Specialist - Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC)

General Description

Provide behavioral health intakes for individuals accessing CBHC services.  Complete appropriate referrals following the intake.

Essential Job Functions

  • Over the course of 1-2 sessions gather needed demographics, perform a brief risk assessment, complete diagnostic mental health/substance use assessments and explore treatment options including referral (as needed) to
    • ESP will be utilized if the client indicates they are a risk to self or others on the risk assessment
    • Child and Adolescent Clinician or Adult Clinician for urgent care or routine outpatient
      • individual and or family psychotherapy
      • therapeutic groups
    • psychiatry intake appointment for medication evaluation
    • For youth: specialized outpatient programs (e.g. CSA, IHT, IHBS, TM, school based services, for youth)
    • For Adults: Specialized programs ( e.g.  DBT, IOP for SUD, Anger Management)
  • Maintain client records, completing all necessary paperwork in a timely manner
  • Coordinate treatment components and communicate with all collateral agents
  • Ensure billing of third party for all relevant interventions.
  • Provide Intake in outreach or home based settings as needed
  • Complete intakes for both scheduled individuals, as well as walk-ins during designated times

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in regularly scheduled supervision
  • Attend required meetings and agency trainings
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a related Human Services field required
  • One year post degree experience preferred
  • Diagnostic and treatment knowledge and skill
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of mental health/substance abuse treatment, intervention and education

Skills

  • Must demonstrate ability to work with diverse communities and support diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
  • Ability to work on interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent oral and presentation skills
  • Proficient knowledge of computers and electronic health record system

  • Must be able to pass a CORI and RMV check

 Working Conditions

  • Works in office; temperature regulated
  • May work in outreach settings including clients homes, hospitals, other agency locations
