General Description

Provide substance use and/or co-occurring treatment as indicated by the individual service plan (ISP), oversee delivery of school service component, and provide assistance in the management of the contract of services under this contract.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide substance abuse training and consultation to youth service organizations and school systems
• Plan and design programs in response to needs of requesting schools and organizations in conjunction with the youth and substance abuse program supervisor
• Get trained & certified as an A-CRA clinician
• Conduct intake interviews, needs assessments, and screening with each referred student
• Provide direct substance use and/or co-occurring intervention or treatment to referred students, including A-CRA
• Facilitate psychoeducation and/or diversion groups for students referred due to school-based substance use infractions
• Provide consultation on school-based substance use incidents which may result in referrals to the team
• Provide assistance in navigating out of school substance use and co-occurring systems of care, including Detox, Residential Care, and Recovery High Schools, to reduce barriers to accessing higher levels of care
• Be present at school-based parent events to promote awareness of and education on adolescent substance use and co-occurring disorders
• Share materials and resources on adolescent substance use and co-occurring disorders with school leadership, school personnel, parents/families, and students
• At the school’s discretion advise on SBIRT or other school-based substance use initiatives or protocols, and policies
• Facilitate/organize at least one professional development day for school personnel to increase awareness of and education on adolescent substance use and co-occurring disorders
• Experience working directly with youth, families, and substance use issues
• Ability to work with culturally diverse populations
• Plan and lead parent and family groups
• Be available for work during the school day 8am-4pm, 4 out of 5 days per work week & be able to flex some evening times
• Complete all paperwork in a timely manner
• Participate in all relevant staff meetings, supervision and required trainings
• Keep supervisor well informed and update collateral services when necessary
• Report incidents regarding accidents, injuries and unusual events
• Maintain professional boundaries when working with youth, their families, and school personnel
• Participate in BSAS meetings & trainings

 Other Responsibilities

• Possibly providing supervision to other staff depending on licensure
• Participate & represent agency in community events & meetings
• As assigned by supervisor

 Qualifications

• MA in mental health or social work
• Experience working with adolescents and/or ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with adolescents
• Training and/or experience in substance abuse or counseling and education

Skills

• Excellent oral & presentation skills
• Leadership talent and the ability to delegate effectively
• Working knowledge of computers
• Knowledge of community resources
